CRC Applications Submitted for AI and Bioenergy Initiatives

Rozetta Institute is pleased to announce the submission of two major applications today under the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program, seeking to establish nationally significant CRCs focused on artificial intelligence and bioenergy.

Both initiatives have been seed-funded by Rozetta as part of the organisation’s mission to identify and accelerate transformative collaborative research initiatives that address areas of national need.

Artificial Intelligence CRC (AI CRC)

The proposed AI CRC seeks to bridge Australia’s AI capability gap by providing the scale, coordination and collaborative infrastructure required to accelerate AI development and adoption across industry.

The CRC would deliver three integrated research programs focused on:

  • frontier AI technology
  • scaling capability
  • rapid translation into industry application

Together, these programs are designed to directly address industry-identified challenges across high-growth sectors and help position Australia as an active builder — not just a consumer — of advanced AI capability.

Key outputs would include model architecture design, secure data-sharing frameworks, industry-ready tools, and workforce training initiatives.

Bioenergy CRC

The proposed Bioenergy CRC aims to accelerate Australia’s bioenergy capability and support the nation’s transition toward greater energy security and renewable energy generation.

The CRC would provide the coordination and collaborative framework needed to address innovation challenges across the bioenergy supply chain, trial new production models, and validate commercially competitive approaches for deployment and scale.

The initiative is designed to strengthen decarbonisation efforts, support regional economic growth, and unlock greater investment in an industry that has historically lacked coordinated national support.

These applications reflect Rozetta’s ongoing role as a philanthropic innovation accelerator — identifying opportunities where national need, breakthrough research and industry collaboration intersect, and providing the early catalytic support required to help transformative ideas reach scale.

Rozetta would like to extend its sincere thanks to all industry, research and government partners who supported the development of these applications. The scale of work, collaboration and shared commitment behind both proposals reflects the strength of the ecosystem working to advance Australia’s future industries and national capability.
